COGS Women
COGS chose to focus on growth-oriented female entrepreneurs to dispel some myths about women's businesses. So often it is assumed that women's businesses are smaller, under-capitalised, socially focused and less scalable. Yet this under-estimates the economic power of women's businesses across the world.
COGS survey work has found consistently that:
- Women do not invest less than their male counterparts
- There are similar numbers of very high growth businesses founded by women as by men
- Women on average employ as many people as men
- There are no differences in growth expectations between women and men
- The performance of women's businesses is similar to those of men's businesses.
The key to dispelling the myths about women's businesses is to make sure that we are comparing like with like rather than looking at all men and all women.
